The fort served as a defensive and administrative center for nearby villages. In the early 19th century, the Paliwal community mysteriously abandoned the entire region, including Khaba Fort and villages like Kuldhara Village. According to local legends, the villagers left overnight due to oppression from a powerful minister of Jaisalmer. The real reason is still debated by historians.Thar Desert
