Highlights

Experience Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Your Way — on a Private Big Island VIP Tour! Discover one of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth with the comfort, flexibility, and personal attention of your own private Big Island VIP tour. The listed price reserves all 10 seats exclusively for your group in our 2022 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, featuring comfortable reclining seats. There are no strangers joining your tour—it's just you and your ʻohana enjoying the adventure together.

Our goal is simple: help you experience as much of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park as possible. Rather than making only a few of the most common stops.

Because volcanic activity is unpredictable and has been intermittent in recent years, active lava can never be guaranteed—but that's only one part of what makes this park so remarkable.

Looking for a more budget-friendly way to experience the volcano with us? We also offer our Hilo Volcano Tour and Meet in the National Park Tour.

Itinerary

  • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

    4 hoursAdmission Ticket Included
Journey Through Hawaiʻi’s Remarkable Ecological Zones Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is an extraordinary place where you can experience dramatically different ecosystems within a relatively short distance. Rising from the rugged Pacific coastline to the 13,681-foot summit of Mauna Loa, the park encompasses environments ranging from warm coastal lowlands and dry shrublands to lush native rainforests, misty montane forests, high-elevation subalpine landscapes, and an otherworldly alpine desert. Changes in elevation, rainfall, temperature, and volcanic activity create distinct habitats filled with remarkable native species, including brilliant red ʻōhiʻa lehua, giant hāpuʻu tree ferns, and colorful Hawaiian forest birds. In some areas, fresh black lava lies beside forests that have been developing for centuries. On a private tour, we can customize your experience, and we want you to get the most out of your visit to the Big Island's number one attraction.
  • Mauna Kea.(Pass by)

    Admission Ticket Free
Saddle Road – A Journey Between Two Giants Saddle Road, officially known as the Daniel K. Inouye Highway, offers one of the most fascinating drives in Hawaiʻi, crossing the dramatic high-elevation landscape between two of Earth’s great volcanoes—Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. As you climb from the coast, lush tropical vegetation gradually gives way to rolling grasslands, ancient lava flows, native shrublands, and an almost otherworldly volcanic landscape. On clear days, the enormous slopes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa rise on either side of you, providing an incredible perspective of just how massive these volcanoes truly are. Along the journey, you’ll cross lava flows of different ages and witness how elevation, rainfall, and volcanic activity shape the island’s remarkably diverse ecosystems. Saddle Road is more than a scenic drive—it’s a journey through the geological heart of the Big Island. A breathtaking drive with a possible stop.
  • Nahuku - Lava Tube

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Included
Explore the Fascinating World of Lava Tubes Born from volcanic activity, the Hawaiian Islands are crossed by an incredible network of underground lava tubes, natural passageways created by flowing lava. During an eruption, the surface of a lava flow can cool and harden while molten lava continues rushing beneath it, creating an insulated tunnel capable of carrying enormous amounts of lava for long distances. When the eruption ends or the lava is diverted elsewhere, the molten rock drains away, leaving behind a remarkable underground cave. While active, these hidden volcanic highways can carry lava at temperatures exceeding 2,000°F (1,090°C). Imagine molten rock flowing beneath your feet through a dark tunnel filled with intense heat and volcanic gases, sometimes accompanied by little more than the steady hiss of moving lava.
  • Halemaumau Trail

    15 minsAdmission Ticket Included
Halemaʻumaʻu Crater – The Heart of Kīlauea Halemaʻumaʻu Crater is one of the most powerful and awe-inspiring places in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Located within Kīlauea’s summit caldera, this enormous crater has been the site of repeated eruptions, lava lakes, dramatic collapses, and extraordinary geological change. The massive 2018 eruption transformed the summit, causing portions of the caldera to collapse and dramatically enlarging and deepening Halemaʻumaʻu. For Native Hawaiians, this is a deeply significant cultural landscape associated with Pelehonuamea, the deity of volcanoes and fire. Today, visitors can gaze across the immense crater and see vivid evidence that the Hawaiian Islands are still being shaped by volcanic forces. When Kīlauea is erupting at the summit, the experience can become even more spectacular—but even without visible lava, Halemaʻumaʻu is an unforgettable sight.
  • Steam Vents

    15 minsAdmission Ticket Included
Experience Kīlauea’s Steaming Earth At the summit of Kīlauea, experience the incredible forces still at work beneath your feet. At Wahinekapu (Steaming Bluff), warm clouds of steam rise from cracks in the earth, offering a fascinating glimpse into Kīlauea’s underground heat. Rainwater seeps through the ground and reaches rocks heated by magma deep below the surface. The intense heat turns the water into vapor, sending it back upward through fractures in the earth as billowing steam. Stand near the steaming vents, feel the warmth rising from the ground, and witness firsthand why Kīlauea is one of the most fascinating and dynamic volcanoes on Earth.
  • Chain of Craters Road

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Included
Chain of Craters Road – A Journey Through Volcanic History Chain of Craters Road is one of the most spectacular drives in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, descending nearly 3,700 feet from Kīlauea’s summit toward the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, the landscape transforms dramatically from lush native rainforest to vast, otherworldly fields of black lava. The road passes numerous volcanic craters, ancient and historic lava flows, and breathtaking overlooks that reveal the immense power of Kīlauea. See where past eruptions buried sections of the original roadway and witness how new life slowly returns to seemingly barren lava. At the coast, dramatic sea cliffs showcase the ongoing battle between volcanic land and the powerful Pacific. Few places allow you to experience so much volcanic history in one incredible drive—making Chain of Craters Road an unforgettable part of any visit to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. This is a private tour and customized to you and your ohana.
