Highlights
- Yonghe Temple is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing.
In the ninth year of the Qianlong reign (1744), Yonghe Temple was converted into a Lama Temple, and the Prime Minister's Affairs Minister Wang was appointed to manage the affairs of the temple without a fixed number of personnel. It can be said that Yonghe Temple was the highest standard Buddhist temple in the middle and late Qing Dynasty in China. Yonghe Temple was designated by the State Council as a national key Buddhist temple in Han areas in 1983. The temple is mainly composed of three exquisite memorial archway and a grand hall with five entrances. From the east and west memorial archway of the cornice arch of wooden architecture to the antique east and west mountain buildings, it covers an area of 66,400 square meters, with more than 1,000 palaces. Established during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, it has a history of 300 years.
