If you’re on the island between December and April, head to Praia da Cacimba do Padre beach that is regarded as one of the best surf spots on the island, thanks to its clean waters and tube waves. Access to the beach is restricted between 8am and 8pm to protect the marine turtles during the hatching period, which is between December and June. Should you wish to continue discovering the other beaches of Pernambuco on the mainland, we recommend going south of Recife to Carneiros as well as to the beaches of the neighbouring state of Alagoas, such as Maragogi, Japaratinga, and São Miguel dos Milagres. There is also Porto de Galinhas, but it is usually very crowded, although the natural pools are very interesting and highly recommended.
