Together we will create and paint a batik handkerchief (your choice of designs) while learning about batik techniques and tools from around the world. Whether you're an artist, a newbie, or a textile lover you are sure to learn something new about this ancient textile art of batik. We will start with a short intro to the world of batik where I will introduce you to the tools I use from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. That will be followed by an introduction to chemistry in textile dyeing. We'll be painting on a 100% cotton handkerchief mounted on a 10" hoop. Each design is pre-waxed by Munirah. Painting on fabric with dye is very fun, therapeutic, and satisfying. More importantly, this is your time to slow down, relax for 90 minutes, and connect with your inner Bob Ross. Munirah will guide the way. You are invited to bring your own beverage of choice to enjoy while painting.
