One of the most popular excursions from Marrakech, the Ourika valley is an impressive fertile valley in high Atlas. It's just one hour from Marrakech, where picturesque Berber village cling to steep slopes above a rushing mountain stream. In summer, the cool of the mountain is inviting as a welcome contrast to the fierce heat of Marrakech; so the valley is often very busy in weekends. While in the winter, the snow-capped summits of the Atlas range provide a truly breathtaking show. The village of Ourika, which is the road to climb the Atlas Mountains.  The Ourika city is famous for the pottery semi-precious minerals. It has an exhilarating Berber souk (a large country market) and one of the biggest in the area. On Monday is not to be missed. Also at Ourika are the pretty gardens and fascinating herbal distillery of Nectarome, before the end of the Ourika Valley trip to the Atlas Mountains, after a little village "Setti-Fatma" 4900 Ft, where a nice walk can be enjoyed beside the river to a series of seven waterfalls tumbling down the mountain in the shadow of the highest peaks.
