An Excellent Day Exploring Hangzhou's Cultural Treasures This was a pleasant and satisfying journey through Hangzhou's highlights. Our guide, Leo, demonstrated exceptional knowledge of the area, sharing fascinating details about each location. He brought the city's rich folklore to life with captivating stories of the White Snake Legend, the Butterfly Lovers, and provided insightful commentary about the deities and history of Lingyin Temple. Both Leo and our driver navigated the city expertly, allowing us to move efficiently between sites and skillfully avoid heavy traffic—a real plus in such a busy city. Highlights: West Lake: Absolutely beautiful. The boat ride across the lake was a memorable highlight of the trip. Lingyin Temple: An impressive, sprawling temple complex filled with remarkable statues and historical significance. Amanfayun Resort: We passed through this private resort briefly—more of a scenic drive-by than a stop. Meijiawu Tea Fields: The tea village and plantation offered interesting insights into Hangzhou's tea culture, harvesting methods, and production. The tea tasting session does include a sales pitch for tea leaves and extract tablets, but there's no pressure to purchase. Shopping Street: A typical Chinese town shopping area. While pleasant, I found Suzhou's Pingjiang Road and Shanghai's Yuyuan Bazaar to be more charming and worth exploring. Suggestion for Improvement: The initial meeting point at the train station could use clearer coordination. I had some difficulty locating the meeting spot at first. More detailed instructions (specific exit number, landmark, photo reference) would be helpful for future travelers. Overall, recommended for anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to Hangzhou's cultural and natural beauty!
