BALCONY OF CARQUEIJAIS VIEWPOINT Varanda dos Carqueijais is a viewpoint halfway between the city of Covilhã and Penhas da Saúde, in Serra da Estrela. And practically in front of the Hotel dos Carqueijais. From this viewpoint you can see the flat surface of Cova da Beira. At the bottom of the slope you can see the city of Covilhã, which extends to the base of the mountain range, where the Serra da Estrela rise begins.

Penhas da Saúde (Category Villages in Protected Areas) Located at an altitude of around 1500m, Penhas da Saúde is located in the heart of Serra da Estrela, surrounded by fauna and flora that make you take your breath away. The charm of Penhas da Saúde is not exhausted, however, in the white mantle that invades the horizon in the winter months. With the melting of the snow in mid-April, new colors appear in the landscape, unique tones that are unmissable for anyone who wants to feel nature. Despite being an eminently tourist location, with several hotel structures and close to the Ski Resort, it maintains the spirit of a mountain community, where tourist modernity lives side by side with nature.
