- Tickets can be printed from 05:00–23:00 at JR stations, subject to each station’s operating hours.
- Tickets must be printed before boarding the train.
- Please allow extra time to avoid congestion at ticket machines.
- Travel is valid only for the specified route (Tokyo–Shin-Osaka or Shin-Osaka–Tokyo).
- Available for all nationalities.
- Adult: ages 12+ (elementary school children at age 12 count as Child).
- Child: ages 6–11 (6-year-olds not yet in school count as Infant).
- Infant: ages 1–5.
- Baby: under 1 year old.
- Children’s tickets are half the adult fare.
- Infants and babies travel free unless: they occupy a reserved seat, travel alone, or exceed two per adult/child.
- Valid photo ID
- QR code voucher or 17-digit booking reference
- Printed tickets (required before boarding)
- Shinkansen stations and trains are wheelchair accessible.
- Confirmation is issued manually within 24 hours.
- No cancellations, refunds, or changes allowed after booking.
- Print tickets at Reserved Seat Ticket Machines in JR stations by scanning your QR code voucher.
- Tickets must be printed before boarding the train.
- Alternatively, redeem at Ticket Offices, JR East Travel Service Centers, or Green Ticket Machines using the 17-digit booking number.
- Scan the QR code at JR machines or present your booking reference at designated counters to collect tickets.
- Vouchers are valid for pickup from 1 month before travel until the travel date.

Buying through pelago will be a reserved seat. Thankfully pelago chose a seat for us with oversized baggage. Kudos to them. (I’m not sure it’s just sheer luck or pelago actively tries to give us seats with oversize baggage allowance) Reasonable price. Easy to obtain tickets from Shinkansen kiosk. Tokyo station is huge and be sure to reach early.
