It is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the land and, to the north, a more limited one of the valley of the Jordan river. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day, Dead sea is also visible.St. George's Church

Contains numerous paintings, frescoes and sculptures depicting the life of John the Baptist ( Yahya ). It also contains an acropolis consisting of ancient basements and an old Moabi well and several ancient monuments under the church, which were once used as a temple, a school and a home for the priest. The church also follows the Latin school.
