The first stop is the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium.
The Okurayama Ski Jump, also known as “Okurayama Schanze,” was originally designed in 1932 by Lieutenant Helset from Norway, at the request of Baron Kishichiro Okura, under the guidance of Prince Chichibu. The venue has hosted numerous competitions and produced many top athletes. In preparation for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympic Games, the facility underwent major renovations in 1970 and served as the venue for the 90-meter class ski jump event.
From the observation deck located at the 307-meter elevation start point, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Sapporo city and the Ishikari Plain beyond the approach (runway).
After leaving the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, the tour continues to Shiroi Koibito Park.
This popular attraction features the Chocolate Factory, where you can observe the production line of the famous Shiroi Koibito cookies, the Tudor House that recreates medieval British architecture, and the large mechanical clock tower Grand Meister, among other charming sights. The Miyanomori Shiroi Koibito Soccer Field, where the Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo team trains, is also located nearby.
Following Shiroi Koibito Park, the tour visits the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market (Outer Market).
Known as Sapporo’s “kitchen,” the Outer Market offers fresh seafood such as crab, along with vegetables, fruits, meat, and other local specialties. The market is also home to many casual dining restaurants serving seafood rice bowls and grilled fish meals. Lunch is on your own here, allowing you to enjoy the dishes that suit your preferences.
On the return journey, you may also get off at the Sapporo Clock Tower (near Odori), one of Sapporo’s most iconic landmarks.
This is a well-balanced and affordable sightseeing tour that allows you to explore the highlights of Sapporo efficiently in a short amount of time.
