We love doing walking tours and have done many in Cities across Europe over the last 20 years. Sadly this was easily the worst - It took me 24 hours to get over how bad this experience was. First the positive parts, the meet and greet was good, The Eastern European lady was fun and friendly at the introduction and the tour started on time. We were not sure what her name was. She did say that this was not a standard tour rather it was her interpretation and we were free to take it or leave it. Then the tour started - within minutes we could not follow what she was trying to say, it was too complex, too convoluted but most importantly far too fast. I wanted to leave after 30 minutes because I knew it would be a waste of precious time but my partner did not want to offend ! Several people did leave and only about half of those who started stayed to the end. The tour did not go anywhere near the Duomo, the Ufizzi, Palazzo Vecchio or Piazza della Signoria so totally bypassed many of the highlights of Florence. The narrative was too many facts without a cohesive core. Of the 1000 things that were said so fast maybe 10 were understood, 2 were interesting and 1 may be remembered. It felt like we were being drilled for an exam, yes there should be facts given but also anecdotes and emotion, we’re here to be entertained and informed not to have 2 hours of random facts shouted at us.
