Experience the mesmerizing beauty of the outback with a sunrise viewing at
Kata Tjuta followed by a guided walk to the Valley of the Winds. As the sun
rises over the horizon, illuminating the towering rock domes of Kata Tjuta,
immerse yourself in the tranquility of the desert landscape.
Your knowledgeable guide will share captivating stories of the geology,
history, and culture of Kata Tjuta, providing insights into this ancient and
sacred site. Explore the Valley of the Winds, a timeless haven nestled within
the majestic domes, as you embark on a 5.4-kilometer walk through creek beds
and rocky terrain, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery.
– Important information–
- Uluru Kata Tjuta National Parks classifies the Valley of the Winds walk to be Difficult, a high level of fitness is required
Weather can be very cold before sunrise in the winter and very hot all day in summer, we recommend you dress accordingly including hat and sunscreen. In summer you may like to wear a fly net as you won’t be the only ones vying for those magnificent views!
Trekking the Valley of the Winds can be challenging. Shorter walks are available for travelers who prefer not to walk to the second lookout
This experience does not include admission to Kata Tjuta National Park. Passengers are advised to purchase tickets in advance and show them to the driver when boarding the bus. Tickets for Kata Tjuta National Park can be purchased from the National Park website
Pick-up is available at the following locations: Sails in the Desert (Front of Hotel), Ayers Rock Campground (Meet at Bus Stop on Main Road), Outback Hotel (Front of Hotel), and Desert Gardens (Front of Hotel). Provisional pick-up information can be viewed here
Please note that pick-up times and locations are estimates and may vary throughout the year based on operational schedules. Guests must contact AAT Kings at 1300 228 546 48 - 72 hours prior to departure to confirm the final pick-up time and location
Itinerary
Be one of the first to enter Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
On your way to Kata Tjuta, your Driver Guide will provide insight into the history and geology of this ancient land.
From here enjoy a panoramic view of the southern side of Kata Tjuta and see Uluru on the distant horizon
Watch the dawn creep across the desert plain and light up the domes
Join your Guide for the walk to the first lookout; hear about the significance of the area to the Anangu and see how they used the natural landscape for all their needs over thousands of years
Continue the 5.4kms challenging walk with your Guide to Karingana, the second lookout, and enjoy spectacular views into the heart of this sacred site
