The name Li An is both the restaurant’s identity and the name of a woman. Born by West Lake in the 1930s, during the Republican era, she learned the art of cooking from an early age while helping her mother manage the household. As she grew older, her refined culinary skills led her to travel the world, absorbing diverse cooking techniques and selecting premium ingredients from different regions. Years later, driven by a desire to return to her roots, she came back to her hometown, giving rise to Li An, an innovative Hangzhou cuisine restaurant that brings together inspirations from across cultures.

The restaurant’s design is inspired by the concept of “Madam’s Living Room”, expressing the elegance, intellect, and grace of a woman from the Republican era. Soft tones, abundant natural light, and expansive city views create a warm and refined atmosphere. Carefully selected décor, including uniquely designed double sided tableware and delicate hand embroidered silk screens, enhances the sense of comfort and sophistication.
