Defined by the 3.000-meter-high Sayan Range along Russian border, this region has s real taste of Siberia, with densely forested taiga that is home to Reindeer People. To south the landscape turns to wooded steppe, swampland, lakes and increasing arid landscape. To see BLUE PEARL of Asia, this majestic clear-watered lakes contains 65%of all the fresh water in Mongolia and furthermore, 1%of the world’s fresh water supply. Mongolia is home to the southernmost indigenous reindeer-herding people in the world, the Tsaatan or Dukha. One of the 20 ethnic groups in Mongolia is the Darkhad people or Tsaatan know as Reindeer Herders. They live in tepees near Khuvsgul Lake and in the taiga forest of the remote northern area of Khuvsgul Province. A visit to the Tsaatan community of reindeer herders is great experience.
