Frequently asked questions

What is included in the Jungfrau Travel Pass?
Think of the Jungfrau Travel Pass as your all-in-one ticket to explore the Swiss Alps around Interlaken, Grindelwald, and Lauterbrunnen.

Available for 3 to 8 consecutive days during the summer season, the pass lets you ride trains, cable cars, funiculars, and even boats as often as you like. No extra tickets needed!

You’ll have access to top scenic routes like the trains to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, the Harder Kulm funicular, and the Schynige Platte Railway from Wilderswil, famous for its wildflowers and epic views.

The cable cars to Grindelwald-First and Männlichen offer some of the most spectacular panoramas in the Jungfrau Region. You can also enjoy lake cruises on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz - both are included with your pass.

One key thing to note: travel from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe) isn’t fully included. But you’ll get a discounted fare with your pass.
Is the Jungfrau Travel Pass worth it?
Yes, definitely. But it gives you more bang for your buck depending on your itinerary. If you're planning to explore Jungfrau for three days or more, the pass is worth it. It's also smart investing in a pass if you're mostly interested in the experiences of the area.

For example: Schilthorn, Harder Kulm, Grindelwald First, Schynige Platte, or other mountain trains and lake cruises. Not only that, you can use the Jungfrau Travel Pass to get a discount on the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe route.

But in any case, the pass gives you excellent value compared to buying separate Jungfrau train tickets, which can get pretty pricey.
How many days is the Jungfrau Travel Pass valid for?
Choose between 3 to 8 consecutive days. You can pick different durations from this range - 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 days, whichever suits your travel plans best. The pass’s area of validity includes the full regional network and selected mountain railways in the region. That includes unlimited travel on railways, gondolas, buses, boats, and other transport options like cable cars or cogwheel trains.
Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover the Jungfrau Region?
The short answer: yes, but only partially.

The Swiss Travel Pass covers most of Switzerland’s trains, buses, and boats, including trips into the Jungfrau Region, one of the country’s most scenic alpine areas. With it, you can travel to mountain villages like Grindelwald and Wengen, and enjoy 50% off most mountain excursions. However, the final stretch from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe) only comes with a 25% discount, since this section isn’t fully covered.

If you plan to spend most of your time exploring around Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, or Grindelwald, the Jungfrau Travel Pass offers much better value. It gives you unlimited rides on local trains, cable cars, and mountain railways within the region, so you can explore freely without buying separate tickets each time.

Tip: Already have a Swiss Half Fare Card? You can use it to get a discount when purchasing your Jungfrau Travel Pass. It’s a smart combo if you want to explore both the Jungfrau Region and other parts of Switzerland.

Jungfrau Travel Pass vs Berner Oberland Pass – which should I buy?
Both are regional train passes that make travelling around Switzerland easier, but they cover different areas.

If your itinerary is focused on Jungfraujoch and the surrounding Jungfrau Region, the Jungfrau Travel Pass makes the most sense. It’s designed for unlimited travel around local highlights like Interlaken, Grindelwald, and Lauterbrunnen, as well as mountain excursions such as Harder Kulm and Schynige Platte.

The Berner Oberland Pass, on the other hand, covers a much wider area - including places like Gstaad and Meiringen - and connects you to the cities of Bern, Lucerne, and Domodossola.
Where can I buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass?
You can buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass online via Pelago or the official Jungfrau Railways website. If you're buying the pass in person, you can get it at any staffed gondola or railway station within the region, or at tourist centres.

But why should you purchase it online, you might ask? Well, you can at least rest easy knowing you have the pass in the bag before the peak summer season.

As for discounts, you can shave 50% off the pass by pre-purchasing the Swiss Half Fare Card first. And if you book the Half Fare Card or Jungfrau Travel Pass on Pelago, you can earn miles with every dollar spent. If you're flying with Singapore Airlines to Switzerland, you can also use your PNR booking number as a promo code to save on the price of the pass.

How to use the Jungfrau Travel Pass?
Using the pass is very straightforward. Once you’ve selected your start date, simply keep the digital version of your Jungfrau Travel Pass ready on your phone. You’ll need to show it when boarding or during ticket inspections. Some gondolas and funiculars have automated turnstiles where you can scan your pass directly.

Prefer a hard copy? You can print out your pass and show it to staff instead. The pass covers trains, gondolas, funiculars, and boats across the Jungfrau Region, so you can hop on and off freely within your valid travel days.

Pro tip: Download the SBB app to check timetables before your trip, so you’ll always know which routes and services your pass is valid on.
