Your day with Frankland Islands Reef Tours begins with an air-conditioned coach transfer from Cairns, taking you south through UNESCO World Heritage-listed rainforest, past sugarcane fields, and by the iconic Walsh’s Pyramid—the tallest freestanding natural pyramid in the world! From there, embark on a tranquil river cruise down the Mulgrave River before the shortest open-water crossing of any Cairns day tour, bringing you quickly to Normanby Island in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. As the only commercial operator licensed to land on Normanby Island, Frankland Islands Reef Cruises offers you a relaxed experience with plenty of space and time to explore. Customise your adventure with a range of all-inclusive activities: snorkel on a guided safari, discover the underwater world on a semi-submersible tour, join an informative island walk, paddle on kayaks or stand-up paddleboards, or savour a beachside buffet lunch. Take it all in or unwind at your own pace—you’re on island time! After a day of ocean adventures, reboard the Turtle Islander for a peaceful return journey to Cairns, arriving in the late afternoon.
We had a wonderful time, staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy their time. The island was beautiful, snorkeling was magical - saw a lot of turtles! More time on the island would have been enjoyable, as it was a tight schedule when doing all the activities on offer. Highly highly recommend!
