— What You Can Expect —
Arima Onsen originates from a serpentine rock layer rich in ancient seawater.
As the Philippine Sea Plate subducted, these mineral-rich waters were pushed
to the upper mantle, and after evaporating, they surged upward from 60
kilometers underground as one of the world's rarest geological hot springs.
Arima Onsen's spring water is renowned as Japan's most mineral-concentrated.
The reason, it is said, is that within a 6-million-year-old serpentine rock
layer lies ancient seawater from the time when humans first began to walk
upright — and the salinity of Arima Onsen's water is a perfect match. Truly a
hot spring that transcends time and space.
