Kati our tour guide was really great! Personalized care. Beautiful region.
⭐ 1 star — The worst tour I’ve ever signed up for. Period. Pelago’s partner for this tour is Dream Tours, but unfortunately the experience was a nightmare. What was advertised as a 5-stop itinerary was not delivered. The tour started 10 minutes late, followed by two additional stops to pick up other passengers, further eating into the time available for the advertised itinerary. 1. Badiauri The itinerary specifically states that we would have the opportunity to taste traditional Kakhetian bread and make it ourselves. We did see the bread being made and were able to taste it, but we had to pay GEL 2 ourselves for the bread. More importantly, we were never given any opportunity to make the bread ourselves, despite this being explicitly included in the tour description. 2. Signagi We were taken to a restaurant for lunch where the prices were almost double those of other restaurants we had seen in the area. 3. Bodbe Monastery Bodbe was fine. This was the one stop that went as expected. 4 & 5. Telavi and Telavi Wine Cellar And then things became completely bizarre. The itinerary clearly advertised Telavi followed by a Telavi Wine Cellar visit and wine tasting as the final stop. Neither happened. There was no Telavi stop, no wine cellar, no wine tasting, and absolutely no explanation from the guide/driver as to why these two advertised stops were cancelled. We simply headed back to Tbilisi. So out of a 5-stop itinerary, only three stops actually happened, with two of the advertised stops disappearing completely without explanation. Safety The driving was also a serious concern. The driver drove aggressively and repeatedly made hard swerves throughout the journey, which made the trip uncomfortable and, frankly, frightening at times. This was not simply an issue of an unpleasant driving style — I felt that the driving was unsafe. I booked this tour through Pelago based on the itinerary and experiences explicitly advertised on the platform. What was delivered was materially different: an advertised bread-making activity that did not happen, two advertised stops that were completely omitted without explanation, additional passenger pick-ups, an expensive compulsory-feeling lunch stop, and unsafe driving. Pelago needs to seriously review its partnership with Dream Tours. A customer should not pay for a 5-stop tour and arrive back in Tbilisi having received only three stops, with no explanation whatsoever for the missing two. Very disappointing and absolutely not an experience I would recommend.
It will be better if the tour guide focuses on one language for the group. As an English listener I felt I was getting fewer details compared to the Russians in my group.
