The rich merchants engaged stone-craftsmen who worked with great diligence on the sandstone mansions they built, decorating facades with sculptural filigree, screen windows, delicate pavilions and beautiful balconies. You will see this unique desert city, its massive fort and magnificent architecture over the next few days.
