  • Tambopata National Reserve

1 hours 30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
Parrots and parakeets require a diet that includes clay rich in essential salts and minerals. This clay aids in metabolizing and neutralizing the toxins and acids found in their primary food sources - flowers, fruits, and seeds. As a result, these birds gather at salt licks, which are clay deposits located along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest, every morning.
