The JBRJ is famous for the exuberance and scientific importance of its plant collections, as well as the beauty of its landscapes. Its bicentennial history is expressed in its monuments, buildings and works of art. On foot or by electric cart, visitors can stroll along the alleys and see plants from different parts of the world, visit the greenhouses (Orchids, Bromeliads, Ferns, Insectivorous Plants) and thematic gardens and collections, such as the Japanese Garden and the Medicinal plants.Parque Lage

Designed in 1840 by English landscaper John Tyndale, the beautiful romantic European-style garden shares the spotlight with the native Atlantic Forest. Also noteworthy are the imperial palm trees, the artificial lakes and islands, in addition to the caves scattered throughout the park and the aquariums embedded in the walls with various fish.
