Nagasaki Kunchi, a 400-year-old festival, fuses Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch cultures. Key attractions include dynamic dragon dances and elaborate floats. Spectators enthusiastically shout "Motte koi!" ("Bring it back!") for encores.

Every year, performances are hosted on four main stages: Suwa Shrine, Otabisho, Yasaka Shrine, and Chuo Park. This is arguably the festival highlight as dancers represent Nagasaki's various city districts.

Currently, Nagasaki City has a total of 58 Odorimachi (performing towns), and all towns are divided into seven groups. Therefore, the duty of presenting a dedication dance comes around once every seven years. Each year at Nagasaki Kunchi, there is an "Odoricho" that performs a different dedication dance, and their turn comes around once every few years. There is a wide variety of votive dances.
