Jim Prejean was born in Carencro, Louisiana which is part of the French-speaking area of Louisiana. Prejean is a French Cajun name that is most common in southwest Louisiana, but more unusual elsewhere in the United States. Prejean Winery currently has approximately 30 acres of active vineyards in which we grow thirteen varieties of grapes. Vinifera grown include Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. While this varietal is often produced in a sweeter style, the 2023 vintage was so exceptional when made bone-dry that he chose to bottle it. He also enjoys crafting pétillant naturel (pét-nat) wines.
