You’ll see the highest peak (Ausangate 6,385 m/20,948 ft) in the Cusco region. snow capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, and wildlife along the way (such as vicuñas (elated to alpacas) chinchillas, deer, and the rare condor). This adventurous trek is approximately 67 km/41.6 mi and goes up to 5,400 m/17,716 ft. Ausangate is an excellent and quiet/remote trekking circuit offering stunning features such as spectacular mountain scenery, snow-capped peaks, hot springs, turquoise lakes, glaciers, herds of llamas, alpacas, and wild vicuña.

7 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeWe will pick you up at 4:30 AM from your hotel. We will then drive for three and a half hours to Upis town. Along the way, we will see picturesque towns and we will have a couple of stops en-route to capture some photos. Once in Upis, we will meet our local muleteers and horses. We will then have breakfast and get ready to start the adventure, we will walk for about 7 hours to get the first camp site called Pamparapa (4,600m / 15,088 feet). We’ll start hiking up gradually from Upis village, later on to immerse into the highland valley inhabited by llamas and alpacas with dramatic vistas of Ausangate in backdrops. We will stop for lunch at a very scenic spot with Ausangate Mt. range at the background. After lunch, we will continue hiking up for a bit over two hours to get the first camp site, called Pamparapa 4,600 m / 15,088 ft, with amazing views around of the Ausangate mountain. 8 hoursAdmission Ticket IncludedIn the morning we will have a beautiful sunrise at the top of Ausangate’s summit, we will enjoy this view while having our breakfast, after having breakfast we’ll climb up for 1 hour to first pass called Arapa which is at 4,800 m / 15,744 feet. At this point you will be impressed by stunning views of eroded mountains and highland valleys. We will then hike downhill, on the way you will see Yanaqocha, and Pukaqocha lakes. Today we will stop for lunch amidst the mountain range with a spectacular view of Ausangate Mountain range from a different angle. After lunch, we will start hiking up on a switchback trail to the next pass at 5,000 m / 16,400 ft. On this route, you will witness amazing views of Vilcanota range going in different directions, coloured hills. We will stop at the camp site called Auqui 4,650 m / 15,252 feet . All meals included. 10 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeToday’s nutritious breakfast makes us ready to go exploring the Rainbow Mountains and for the most strenuous day. After enjoying our breakfast early in the morning, we’ll hike up for about an hour and 30 minutes to reach the next pass at 5,000 m / 16,400 ft, from which we’ll see the iconic Rainbow Mountains. We’ll walk downhill on a steeper section trail to get the flatter section, we will then continue hiking up to the Rainbow Mountains for about an hour and 30 minutes. Upon our arrival we will savour the unique vistas of the Rainbow Mountains, after that, we’ll return on the same trail to our camp site where we’ll have lunch at about 1:00 pm. After having a delicious lunch, we’ll continue hiking to the next camp site called Ausangate Qocha 4,700 m / 15,416 ft, for about 2 hours and 30 minutes. 8 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeAnother great day to enjoy the mind-blowing coloured hills next to the Ausangate Mt (6,381m/ 20,930 feet), a highest mountain in Cusco, and see more glacier lagoons, after having breakfast we will begin the trek, the trail takes us to the next pass called Palomani that is at 5,130m / 16,826 feet the highest pass on the whole trail; where, we’ll start to take a glance the massive mountain and some other coloured hills which are still close by, then we’ll walk downhill to get the valley part, where we’ll eat our lunch, in the late afternoon we’ll walk up for 2 more hours to the next camp spot located at an elevation of 4,750 m / 15,580 feet. Where, in the evening we’ll have tea, followed by dinner. All meals included. 8 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeWake up hot cup of coca tea, after having our breakfast we will hike up for 2 hours and 30 minutes to the last pass called Jhampapampa 5,030 m / 16,498 ft, where we’ll have amazing glacier peaks right in-front of us. We will then trek downhill to get our last scenic lunch spot. After lunch, we’ll trek for 2 more hours to get the Pacchanta Town. Where we’ll have a chance to swim at hot springs which is optional, and at this place we’ll say goodbye to our muleteers, we will eventually drive back to hotel in Cusco for about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
