Adelaide CBD to the ferry terminal at Cape Jervis. Board the ferry for a
45-minute cruise to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Your Untamed Escapes Guide
will meet you here and give you an overview of the adventure ahead for the
next few days. Throughout your tour, you'll also have the opportunity to
become a citizen scientist and contribute to conservation efforts and research
on the island in partnership with Passport to Recovery. You can download the
App on the way over on the ferry, so you're ready to go!
Hop on board the bus and take a scenic coastal drive to Pennington Bay on the
island's south coast. With powerful swells rolling in, this beach is famed for
its epic surf breaks. Climb the 500 steps to the top of Prospect Hill, the
highest point on Kangaroo Island, for
rewarding views and to get your bearings.

pure strain of Ligurian Bee in the world. Pop into a honey farm to learn all
about these fascinating creatures and, of course, do a tasting. We'll have a

** Day 2: Kangaroo Island**
After breakfast, it's time for an incredible wildlife encounter. Seal Bay is
home to the third-largest colony of endangered Australian sea lions, with
around 800 calling the bay home. Join a 45-minute tour with the National Parks
& Wildlife guides, who know pretty much everything there is to know about
these beautiful creatures. Follow a boardwalk through the dunes down to the
beach, and on the way, pass sea lions
snoozing or even lying in the middle of the beach path and learn about
conservation efforts to save this endangered species.
Next, we'll set our coordinates for the iconic Flinders Chase National Park,
located at the northwestern point of the island. This park is renowned for its
rock formations, impressive beaches, and abundant wildlife.
At Admirals Arch, wander along a boardwalk as you soak up the serenity and
keep your eyes peeled for the resident New Zealand fur seals. Marvel at the
Remarkable Rocks, shaped by nature for over 500 million years.
After a full day, head back towards camp for some free time to reflect and
relax before dinner.
Today, we drive approximately 340 km.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
GENERAL
Please note that on occasion, the ferry times will change from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, with the return time to Adelaide bus station at 10:30 pm. If this is the case, you will be informed two days before the tour departs Adelaide.
A moderate fitness level is required, and you need to be prepared for walks between 2-5 kilometres on some days. This may involve rough ground and perhaps getting wet.
Please advise of any special dietary requirements when you book. We offer plenty of variety and do our best to provide fresh products. Snacks, soft drinks and alcohol are not included.
OPTIONAL EXTRA
This tour has one optional extra, which we let passengers decide if they want
to do. This experience can fill up fast, so we recommend booking early to
avoid disappointment.
Swim with Dolphins or Seals
Jump on board a 2-hour tour with Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari and experience
an unforgettable wildlife encounter as you swim with wild dolphins or snorkel
among playful Long-nosed Seals along Kangaroo Island's coastline. Hop aboard a
28-seater vessel and watch seals lounging on the rocks before diving in for an
interactive snorkel. Or swim alongside resident dolphin pods in their natural
habitat. Please note that these are wild animals, and the experience will
depend on their behaviour on the day—it may be dolphins, seals, or a coastal
snorkel. Wetsuits, masks, snorkels, and fins are provided.
ACCOMMODATION & CAMPING
FITNESS & MOBILITY
Our adventure tours are designed for travellers who love nature, hiking, the
great outdoors, and the fun and camaraderie of group travel. While we don't
have an upper age limit, our trips require a moderate level of fitness, and we
encourage all passengers to self-assess their ability to participatein
activities like hiking, swimming, and swag camping to ensure they get the most
out of the experience.
Here are a few important things to consider:
• Some walks range from 2–5 km over uneven terrain, so a moderate level of
fitness is required.
• You'll need to be comfortable lifting yourself from ground level as we sleep
in traditional Australian swags.
• All passengers must complete an online check-in, including a 'Fit for
Travel' self-declaration, confirming they are free from illness. This is
mandatory and must be completed at least 48 hours before departure.
• If you have mobility concerns or health conditions, we strongly recommend
consulting your doctor before booking.
• It is essential that the Customer Service Team and Guides are made aware of
any existing medical conditions before travel. If you're unsure whether this
trip is the right fit for you, please get in touch.
ITINERARY CHANGES
• Weather conditions in Australia can change quickly, and our experienced
guides will always put the safety of our passengers first and stay abreast of
weather conditions.
• Itinerary changes may occur to ensure we provide the best possible
experience. For example, if wet or cold, your Guide may change the beach and
outdoor activities with indoor
experiences such as visiting the Lavender Farm, Island Beehive for honey
tasting and False Cape Wine for wine tasting. Any itinerary changes will be
communicated to the group in
advance.
THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS BAD WEATHER…
Just inappropriate clothing! Peak season on the island might be summer, but
for nature lovers, the cooler months provide just as much fun and adventure.
After all, as the saying goes, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just
inappropriate clothing".
In autumn, the wind is low, and the days are bright and clear. The calm
weather makes autumn a wonderful time for snorkelling and bushwalking. Come
winter, birdlife is teeming, and the seascapes seem even more dramatic.
Kangaroo joeys emerge from their mothers' pouches, and young koalas are easily
spotted, perched on their mums' backs. Winter is whale time with the annual
migration of the Southern
Right Whales. You can often spot mothers and their young resting along the
sheltered bays. It is also when the bush bursts into colour as native plants
bloom. It really is a photographer's dream.
