— Ayutthaya History —

Founded around 1350, Ayutthaya once held the position of the second capital of
the Siamese Kingdom, succeeding Sukhothai. Tragically, it suffered devastation
at the hands of the Burmese in the 18th century. Nevertheless, the vestiges of
its former grandeur, characterized by prangs (reliquary towers) and majestic
monasteries, still stand as a testament to its historical magnificence.

Positioned approximately 80 kilometers north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya thrived as
a bustling international trading port and served as the capital of the Kingdom
of Siam until its destruction by the Burmese in 1767. Today, the remnants of
the ancient city shape the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an awe-inspiring
archaeological site adorned with palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries, and
statues. This park rests on an island embraced by three rivers.

— Highlights of the Tour —

• Bang Pa-In: Visit the royal summer house of King Ayutthaya, Prasatton's room, a vast structure situated 400 meters long and 40 meters wide. The summer house, centrally located on a lake, served as a vacation residence for the kings of Ayutthaya during its era. (Golf cart rental is optional, and please adhere to the dress code)
• Wat Mahathat: This royal monastery was a significant spiritual center during the Ayutthaya period. Despite experiencing several restorations and renovations, it collapsed in 1904. The Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture carried out its restoration in 1956. Within the temple, you can find Buddha enshrined in a stupa, along with other Buddha statues and offerings. The museum also displays numerous excavated artifacts
• Wat Lokayasutharam: Located behind the Royal Palace, this temple boasts a colossal 42-meter-long reclining Buddha statue. The temple is renowned for its tradition of pasting gold foil on the Buddha, making wishes, and offering flowers and incense
• Rak-na Cafe: Translating to "loving the field" in Thai, Rak-na Cafe allows you to bask in the charm of nature, surrounded by green rice fields, providing a serene and picturesque environment
• Wat Chaiwatthanaram: Inspired by Khmer-style architecture, King Prasat built this temple as a tribute to his mother, imitating the grandeur of Angkor Wat. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the overall view of Angkor Wat in miniature
• Longtail Boat Ride: Take a delightful 30-40 minute boat ride along the Pasak River, offering scenic views of Ayutthaya's new landscape. Please note that for safety reasons, boat operations do not run at night, and boat timings may vary based on the season

• For those interested in renting a cart at Bang Pa-In, the rental fee is 400 THB for the first hour and THB100 per hour thereafter. A valid driver's license is required for the rental
