Visit the “Silk White Fabric Museum” and experience Yuzen gold painting
The Silk White Fabric Museum is a museum specializing in white fabrics for kimonos. Approximately 50 types of white fabrics for post-dyeing (dyed kimono), where fabrics woven with raw silk are dyed later, are on display, carefully selected from 200 types and 3000 patterns that ITOKO have woven so far. You can actually touch the white fabric, which has various characteristics due to differences in production areas and types of yarn, etc., and see its texture and beautiful luster. We will introduce the process leading up to the production of one-half white dough, such as cocoon production by domestic sericulture farmers and knowledge of the amount of cocoon required for a kimono.
②Kinsai Yuzen Workshop (time required: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes)
You can enjoy the experience of adding dye to pure silk fabric, a high-grade material used in kimonos, using the Yuzen technique and finishing it with gold plating. In-house instructors will carefully guide you, so even beginners can participate with peace of mind. The finished work will be framed and given to you, so you can take home your memories as an interior decoration.
