Authentic Sumo Morning Training Observation Tour with a Sumo Journalist
- Embark on a cultural journey with a knowledgeable English-speaking guide and gain insights into sumo’s rich history and rituals. Witness authentic live morning training — not a staged show — capture commemorative photos, and be guided by a sumo specialist who is also a national newspaper journalist. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the world of sumo.
- This exclusive tour, granted special permission from a sumo stable, offers rare access to the world of sumo and its wrestlers — a realm unfamiliar even to many locals. Hosted by a sports tour specialist, this experience promises to be a Tokyo highlight.
- Immerse yourself in a rare opportunity to explore an important aspect of Japan’s cultural heritage and enjoy a glimpse into the world of sumo, a privilege seldom accessible even to the Japanese people.
- You will observe authentic morning training at a sumo stable (the stable visited may vary depending on the tour date). The observation time is approximately 60–120 minutes.
- After the training session, you can ask questions to a sumo specialist who is also a national newspaper journalist and view an actual sumo ring used for competition.
- After the sumo practice observation, you may also visit a lush Japanese garden on the way to Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Arena).
