Highlights

Chinatown of Jakarta has a very long history which began during the Dutch East India Company occupation in the archipelago. In the past, the Company allocated the area for Chinese precint so that they would not lived inside the city walls of Batavia (old name of the city during Dutch occupation) after racial riot happened in 1740.

We will explore various places which are the silent witnesses of the existence of Chinese community during the ancient time. The culture is still standing strong. Visit the oldest Chinese temple in Jakarta which has been established since 1650 and a Peranakan "mansion" which gives an overview of how did they live.
