Castle area is beautiful, absolutely worth visiting if you are in Matsumoto. Pelago e-ticket came instantly and I was able to use the QR code to redeem the tickets at the counter.

  • Admission is free for children under elementary school age
  • Matsumoto residents can enter the Honmaru Garden for free by showing ID; however, those wishing to climb the castle tower must pay an admission fee

  • Enter Matsumoto Castle or the Former Kaichi School by 4:30 pm, the final admission time
  • Use the electronic ticket entrance at the Kuromon ticket booth for Matsumoto Castle and present your QR code
  • Show your QR code at the ticket booth to access the National Treasure Former Kaichi School

Visit Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure and the oldest surviving five-story, six-story wooden castle tower. Climb the tower using stairs, which are narrow and steep. (Approx. 140 steps, max slope: 61 degrees.)
Shoes are not permitted inside the castle tower. Tabi socks are distributed at the entrance, so please bring a bag with your shoes in it before entering
Please note that the Uzumimon entrance on the red Uzumibashi side is closed. The only entrance is the Black Gate
Pets are not permitted inside the Honmaru garden or the castle tower. Pets are also not permitted in bags or cages. However, assistance dogs are permitted. Please contact the management office in advance
