Highlights

The cocktails are Sombai's own, built on liqueurs made in the building you are standing in, so you taste the base spirit first and then taste what it becomes.

The class is led by the family who make the liqueurs and capped at 8 people, small enough that guests end up asking for restaurant and market recommendations, which they get.

You are in a traditional wooden Khmer house in the Wat Damnak area, upstairs from the infusion jars, where the family has been making hand-painted bottles of infused rice wine since 2012.

The class runs in the evening, after the temples close, so it fills the part of the day most visitors to Siem Reap have nothing planned for.

Itinerary

  • Sombai Cambodian Liqueur and souvenirs

Sombai runs a small evening cocktail class inside its rice liqueur workshop in the Wat Damnak area of Siem Reap. The workshop is rated #3 of 170 shopping experiences in Siem Reap on Tripadvisor. Looking for something to do in Siem Reap at night that is not Pub Street? You make three cocktails yourself, built on Sombai's own infused Cambodian liqueurs: Sombai Blue, Pina Cambodia and Ginger Mojito. You also tour the workshop and taste 10 flavours of liqueur and 3 alcoholic jams, with local snacks alongside. Groups are capped at 8, so this is hands-on rather than a demonstration. Sombai has been making hand-painted bottles of infused rice wine here since 2012, and the family runs the class itself. Non-drinkers are welcome. You can make the cocktails without drinking them, and an accompanying non-drinker is free of charge.
