Hu Xueyan Former Residence is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It was the home of Hu Xueyan, a famous merchant during the Qing Dynasty. Built during the Tongzhi period, the residence covers a large area and features architecture combining Jiangnan garden style with traditional residential elements, including carved beams and intricately decorated halls. The residence displays Hu Xueyan’s life, calligraphy, paintings, and artifacts related to his business activities. It not only showcases the luxurious living style of Qing merchants but also reflects Hangzhou’s historical culture and unique folk architecture, making it an important site for understanding modern Chinese commercial culture.
