City of the Dead has been used as a burial ground for Cairo since its foundation in the 10th century, now parts of it are used as houses by the living. there you will see beautiful mausoleums and mosques such as the Complex of Sultan Qaytbay (1478).

Then you will move to visit the citadel of Saladin with its massive walls and dominating towers and the famous alabaster mosque inside it, this mosque (1821-1856) of Mohamed Ali Pasha, the founder of modern Egypt, is an excellent example of the Ottoman style of architecture.
