The ‘cuttlefish sashimi’, which is fished from the fish tank and processed as soon as it is ordered, is the ultimate in freshness. The squid meat moves continuously on the bowl, giving it a crispy texture and the sweetness that only live fish can offer. In addition to squid, the menu also includes seafood dishes such as assorted sashimi of fresh seasonal fish from the surrounding seas and Spanish mackerel grilled with yuzu miso, as well as a wide range of meat dishes such as chicken Hachiman-maki and Wagyu beef steak. A sumptuous sushi dish is also offered at the end of the course. The special course, which includes all-you-can-drink for 2 hours and 30 minutes, is recommended for both first-time visitors to Japan and those who are familiar with the gastronomic delights of Fukuoka, Japan. Hakata Kaisen Watatsumi Hakata Honten is a izakaya where you can enjoy fresh seafood dishes, including live fish, in private or semi-private rooms. The ‘Ikizukuri’ (fresh slices of live fish, such as squid and leatherfish, from the fish tank in the restaurant are processed and served upon order) is outstandingly fresh. We also recommend creative seafood dishes such as the visually beautiful ‘Watsuumi Kaisen Monaka’, which features sea urchins and salmon roe on top of the fish in the middle.
In addition to seafood, the restaurant also offers authentic meat dishes using Japanese wagyu beef and local specialities from Kyushu.
