Highlights
A grinning moon face has been swallowing visitors whole since 1912 — and that's just the first stop on St Kilda's seaside parade of piers, palms, and personalities.
This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through Melbourne's St Kilda on foot, using phone-based riddles to guide you from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time.
• Face the famous mouth of Luna Park, one of the world's oldest continually operating amusement parks
• Walk out along St Kilda Pier for skyline views and a chance of little penguins
• Track down The Wonderful Two and let the local public art explain itself
Around 2 hours, any group size, available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
By the end, Melbourne's bayside playground will feel like your own neighbourhood haunt.
Itinerary
29P Marine Parade
Starting on Marine Parade along the St Kilda foreshore, near Luna Park, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and start exploring. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city. At Luna Park, the riddles begin under Mr Moon's famous gaping grin — an entrance that has been startling first-timers since 1912, guarding a wooden rollercoaster almost as old. St Kilda Pier stretches the route out over Port Phillip Bay, with the city skyline behind you, the breakwater ahead, and — around dusk — a resident colony of little penguins. The Wonderful Two adds a playful note of public art to the trail, proof that St Kilda never takes itself too seriously; the app will make sure you look at it properly. Around 2 hours, gelato and coffee stops at your discretion. By the end, you'll get why Melburnians never really outgrow St Kilda.
