Legend has it that the regal beauty of Padmini so besotted Alauddin Khilji,he was overpowered by a desire to possess her.But the noble queen preferred death over dishonour & committed "Jauhar". The victim was Chittaur, which came under the sword of the marauder. Next, visit the Vijaya Stambha, an imposing victory monument located within Chittor Fort. This famous tower was built by the Mewar King, Rana Kumbha, in 1448 to commemorate his victory over the vast combined armies of Malwa & Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji.Pushkar
