Discover the rich history and stunning landscapes of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua since 1852. Our adventure begins at the Loma de Tiscapa Historical Park, where you'll explore the ruins of the old presidential palace and see the iconic statue of Sandino's shadow. Don’t miss the historic artifacts, like the tank sent by Benito Mussolini to Anastasio Somoza.
Next, we'll stroll down Bolivar Avenue to the historic city center, visiting Central Park, the ruins of the Cathedral of Santiago, the National Palace of Culture, and the Ruben Dario Theater. Our journey continues to Paseo Xolotlán, where you’ll marvel at a model of 75 buildings from historic Roosevelt Avenue, many of which were destroyed by the 1972 earthquake.
We'll then head to the Masaya Volcano National Park, covering 54 km² and featuring two volcanoes and five craters. A paved road leads us to the edge of the active Santiago crater, one of the few places where you can safely observe a crater up close.
