Itinerary

  • **Enter the Tatami Room** Please take off your shoes before entering the tatami room.

  • **Explanation of the Experience** The staff will explain the flow of the workshop.

  • **Learn About Tatami** Learn about the history of tatami, its cultural significance, and how the rush plant (igusa) is made into a tatami mat. This session will include a presentation with slides and videos, as well as an opportunity to touch the actual materials.

  • **Choose Your Tatami Border** You will choose the fabric for the border of your mini-tatami mat.

  • **Make a Mini Tatami Mat (Tatami Tea Mat)** Now it's time to make your own mini tatami mat.

  • **Enjoy Green Tea** Take a break and enjoy a cup of green tea.

  • **Finish** You can take home the mini tatami mat you created.
