About JR EAST PASS(Nagano, Niigata area)
< Valid period >
1 Validity of an E-Ticket: E-Ticket will be valid for three months from the day of issuance.
2 Validity of JR EAST PASS after exchange: 5 consecutive days from the starting date.
*The customer needs to select the starting date within one month when exchanging the pass at the designated exchange location.
< Precautions for exchange >
1 The customer must show the E-Ticket and passport when collecting the 'JR EAST PASS' at the designated location in Japan. A copy of the customer’s passport cannot be used to collect a pass.
2 When exchanging at a designated exchange location in Japan, the customer is required to specify the starting date. The starting date must be within one month from the date of exchange. Once the pass is exchanged, the starting date cannot be modified.
3 the same pass type cannot be issued while the validity period overlaps. Please select a starting date that would not overlap the validity period. Different passes (Tohoku area / Nagano, Niigata area) can be exchanged even if the validity period overlaps.
4 Customers cannot exchange passes tickets when they need to meet the qualifications even with an E-. Please get in touch with the travel agency where the customer purchased the tickets for a refund.
< Precautions after the exchange at a designated location in Japan >
1 Please use the automatic ticket gate.
2 The pass cannot be reissued When a JR EAST PASS is lost, even with the record or a copy of the E-Ticket.
3 If a customer takes trains outside the designated area for the JR EAST PASS or uses facilities not covered by the pass, additional fees will be charged.
< Terms and conditions >
1 This pass is valid only for the person himself. While using the pass, the customer must carry one's passport and be prepared to present it to a station attendant or train conductor if requested.
2 Once the customer has started to use this pass, the validity period cannot be extended, nor will any refund be issued, even if trains and other valid transportation services are suspended or delayed for any reason. Moreover, the JR EAST will not bear additional costs due to changes in route, such as alternative transportation costs or accommodation charges.

You can also ride on the related Joyful Trains. If you wish to board the Joyful Trains, you need to obtain a seat reservation ticket (free of charge) in advance.
You cannot board the TOHOKU EMOTION train. For Koshino Shu*Kura, seat reservation tickets can be issued (free of charge) for Car 3 only.
★Notes
1. The JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) cannot be used on the Tokaido Shinkansen. (This is because the Tokaido Shinkansen is run by another company)
2. Pass holders using Gran Class, Green cars, and sleeper trains are requested to purchase Super (Limited) Express Reserved Seat Tickets in advance for each ride.
* JR EAST PASS only covers the basic fare part of the ticket.
3. GALA Yuzawa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen line can only be used when GALA Yuzawa Snow Resort is open.

< Reserved Seat Tickets >
When using reserved seats in the Shinkansen and limited express trains, reserved seat tickets are required. Reserved seat tickets are unnecessary when using “Non-reserved seats” on trains on ordinary lines, the Shinkansen, and limited express trains. Some trains install only "Reserved Seat." As seats cannot be reserved or changed on board, please have a Reserved Seat Ticket issued at a designated place before boarding.
< Number of uses >
Reserved Seats on the Shinkansen and limited express trains can be used without limitation during the five days validity period.
< Purchase locations >
1. Seat reservations will be possible at the JR EAST Reserved Seat Ticket Vending Machines. *Some rail passes issued at certain ticket offices will not support this service.
2. The reserved seat tickets are issued at "JR EAST Travel Service Center" and "JR EAST Ticket offices."
*Reserved Seat Tickets cannot be issued at JR Central, Tokyo Metro, Odakyu Electric Railway, Keisei Electric Railway, or any other railway companies' ticket office.
< Unused Reserved Seat Tickets >
Please return Reserved Seat Tickets, when tickets are no longer needed due to schedule changes or cancellations, at "JR EAST Ticket offices," "JR EAST Travel Service Centers" before the applicable train departs.
