- Barasu Island, the 'Miracle Island'

Barasu Island is a small island formed by an accumulation of white coral sand
(barasu). The sea area around Barasu Island is called Sekisei Lagoon, which is
designated as a national park and is known for having one of the largest and
most beautiful coral reefs in Japan. It is an uninhabited island floating in
the blue sea, consisting only of pure white sandy beaches and emerald blue
waters. The sea is highly transparent and the coral is beautiful, making it
perfect for snorkeling.

Yubu Island, which is part of the Yaeyama Islands, can be reached from
Iriomote Island by a 15-minute water buffalo cart ride. It is a small remote
island and also a botanical garden where a subtropical world unfolds.
