After taking your picture, walk into Nakamise, one of Japan’s oldest shopping streets. On the back of the gate, you’ll see a pair of huge “O‑waraji” straw sandals, each weighing about 500 kilograms, hung to ward off evil. Senso‑ji is known for giving many “bad luck” results, which makes getting a “good luck” one feel even more special.
