Visit the Temple , Chief House, and all special “bure”which demonstrate traditional crafts: fire lighting, pottery making,weaving etc. 6: 45 p.m Unearth the “Lovo” food, take you camera and watch very careful as they unearth the dinner as it is ready to be served. 7:00 p.m Welcome Ceremony and taste kava 7:20 p.m Food is ready and enjoy your dinner and order your drinks. 7:50 p.m Enjoy the spectacular Meke Show and Fire dance. A wonderful afternoon/evening. Very informative about the traditions and culture. Followed by plentiful, great food and performance dancing including fire dancing and audience participation. Highly recommended.
My visit was less than optimal. Unfortunately I booked for a Friday evening, which means that traffic is quite bad in Nadi. My driver arrived 30 mins late for the pickup, and I know that it's not his fault. Unfortunately, this also meant arriving late and it was already quite dark halfway into the village tour. I also missed out on the chance to see the opening of the lovo (underground oven). Dinner was good, it's a buffet, and had food catered as well as food made in the underground oven. The night time entertainment of fire performances and dances were great.
