This was the first trek I embarked in Nepal with a sense of excitement and curiosity. While the trek was labeled as "Easy," I found it to be more demanding than anticipated. "Easy" is a relative term, perhaps referring to individuals with a high level of physical fitness. For someone like me, who is of average fitness and accustomed to flatter terrains, the trek posed significant challenges. The journey involved descending approximately 800 meters from Sarangkot to lake level in Pokhara, navigating thousands of uneven steps, and then ascending a similar height to reach the Peace Pagoda. This strenuous activity led to severe muscle soreness in my calves and thighs, requiring 4-5 days to recover. Despite these challenges, the overall trek setup was excellent. The guide provided was patient, understanding, and attentive to my needs, especially when I struggled towards the end of the hike and required more frequent rest breaks. In conclusion, while the trek was more challenging than expected, it was also incredibly rewarding. The experiences and memories gained were invaluable, and I would encourage future trekkers to assess their fitness levels and prepare accordingly.
