Highlights

Come explore the Saigon I actually love: the busy streets, tiny food stalls, hidden alleys and random little corners you’d probably never find on your own. We’ll try 6-7 local street-food tastings depends on what avaialable on that day.

Between bites, we’ll duck into old apartment buildings, wander through the maze of local alleys, explore Saigon’s Cambodian neighborhood and get lost in the colorful Hồ Thị Kỷ Flower Market.

No fancy tourist restaurants or rushing from one attraction to another. Just good food, interesting stories, local neighborhoods and plenty of spontaneous moments along the way.

Small group, relaxed vibe, lots of food. Come hungry and curious. You might leave knowing Saigon a little differently.

I suck at marketing so most of the time you get a private tour with me or one of my trusted team

Hồ Thị Kỷ Flower Market + Bánh tráng nướng & Chuối nếp nướng We’ll wander through Hồ Thị Kỷ, one of Saigon’s liveliest flower markets, where flowers arrive throughout the day and the surrounding streets turn into a little world of food stalls, cafés and local businesses. This is also where we’ll grab a couple of street-food favorites: bánh tráng nướng, crispy grilled rice paper topped with egg, scallions and savory toppings, and chuối nếp nướng, grilled banana wrapped in sticky rice and served with coconut sauce. These snacks are classic examples of how Vietnamese street food turns simple ingredients into something seriously addictive. Come hungry .. we’re only getting started!

Cambodian Neighborhood + Bún bò Huế & Kem bơ We’ll explore Saigon’s Cambodian neighborhood, tucked away behind the busy city streets. The area has a strong Cambodian influence, with local restaurants, small shops and plenty of hidden food spots. Here we’ll stop for bún bò Huế, a spicy and aromatic noodle soup from Central Vietnam made with beef, lemongrass and fermented shrimp paste. Although it comes from Huế, it has become a beloved everyday dish in Saigon. We’ll finish with kem bơ, a creamy avocado dessert with coconut and ice cream: a very Vietnamese way to end a spicy bowl!

Old Communist-Era Apartment Complex + Bột chiên & Bò lá lốt Step inside one of Saigon’s old apartment complexes and see what everyday city life looks like away from the main streets. These aging residential blocks are full of tiny homes, family businesses, cafés and unexpected corners. While exploring, we’ll stop for bột chiên, crispy pieces of rice-flour cake fried with egg, green onions and a sweet-savory sauce. It’s an old-school Saigon street snack that has been enjoyed for generations. We’ll also try bò lá lốt: seasoned beef wrapped in fragrant betel leaves and grilled over charcoal. Smoky, juicy and perfect for eating straight from the grill.

Secret Saigon Alleys + Bánh mì, Bánh xèo, Bún thịt nướng & Hủ tiếu Now we leave the tourist map behind and wander through Saigon’s maze of narrow residential alleys. You’ll see tiny homes, local cafés, shrines, street vendors and everyday life happening right outside people’s doors. Along the way, we’ll taste some of Saigon’s biggest classics: bánh mì, the Vietnamese baguette sandwich that evolved from French bread into a uniquely Vietnamese street food; crispy bánh xèo with shrimp, pork and bean sprouts; bún thịt nướng with grilled pork, noodles, herbs and peanuts; and a small bowl of hủ tiếu, a southern Vietnamese noodle soup. Basically, we’ll walk, eat, get a little lost and repeat.

Bàn Cờ Local Market + Chè & Fresh Tropical Fruit We’ll make a quick stop at Bàn Cờ Market, a proper neighborhood market tucked away from Saigon’s main tourist streets. It’s the kind of place where locals come for breakfast, groceries and a quick snack rather than somewhere designed for tourists. We’ll wander through the narrow market lanes, check out the fresh produce and see a very everyday side of Saigon. And of course, we’ll eat! We’ll stop for a bowl of chè, Vietnam’s wonderfully messy world of sweet soups, beans, jelly, coconut milk and whatever delicious toppings the vendor has that day. We may also grab some seasonal tropical fruit along the way: because in Saigon, there’s always something new to try
