- Spot Introduction -

  • The Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the site of the Vietnamese royal palace, is named after the old name of Hanoi, which means "ascending dragon." Built over approximately 800 years, the ruins have undergone repeated destruction and reconstruction, and during the French colonial period, it was used as a French military headquarters. After the end of French rule and the outbreak of the Vietnam War, it was also used as a headquarters for the Vietnam People's Army, making it a place that has played a significant role in history.

  • Hakuba Sairei Chi is famous as the oldest temple in Hanoi and is also one of the four temples that protect Hanoi. This temple enshrines a white horse, the guardian deity that marked the location of the city walls. On the brick roof are two dragons facing each other, with a circle resembling yin and yang in the center, giving the temple a look that is somewhat reminiscent of an old Okinawan house.

  • The Ly Thai To statue is located in Ly Thai To Park on the shores of Hoan Kiem Lake and was erected to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Hanoi. Ly Thai To was the first emperor of the Ly Dynasty, which established Vietnam's first long-lasting regime, and he continues to be revered by people today.
