Namobudhha is one of the three most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites along with Boudhanath and Swoyambhunath. An inspiring legend about the Budhha, makes this site a great holy place for Buddhist people. According to the legend, Lord Budhha in his previous life was a prince, encountered an ill tigress while walking in the forest, that was close to death from starvation and unable to feed her cubs . With his compassion act, lord Budhha allowed to consume himself to starving tigress family. He then transported to the higher realms of existence with this did. In a small cave up to the forested path, just left of the stupa, a marble tablet depicts all the event.
