Viewpoint Senhora do Monte, located in the Graça district, offers a unique panorama, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon, especially because it is one of the highest points in the city. Originally a Moorish fortification, the castle became the royal residence after the conquest of the city by D. Afonso Henriques, remaining so until the royal family moved to Paço da Ribeira in 1503. As a military and civil structure, the castle underwent several transformations until the major restoration of 1938-40, which restored its medieval character and gave it the appearance we know today. Thanks to its privileged location, it is also one of Lisbon's finest viewpoints, offering magnificent views over the city.
