Phare, The Cambodian Circus combines theatre, music, dance, and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories from recent history, folklore, and modern society. Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak's vocational training centre in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by nine young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. Phare, The Cambodian Circus provides a venue to hone skills and also earn a decent wage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Phare Cambodian Circus. The performers were energetic, fun and really engaged the audience. The story telling behind the performance was wonderful. We were asked to arrive at 7.30pm for an 8pm start as it takes time for everyone to be seated in the stands within the tent. Returnable fans are handed out as it can get a little warm. Drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) can be purchased outside and taken in.. Highly recommended.
Unbelievably talented and a must-see if in Siem Reap. Especially to see these talented artists and support their larger efforts in Cambodia. Section A is definitely the best views and you get a water bottle included, but really no bad seat in the house.
Great! It was an amazing night of entertainment at the phare circus. I would recommended anyone visiting to drop by the circus.
A fun night out and unique experience while also giving back to the community. Well worth a visit.
The show was abit slow at the start but picked up and was entertaining. Nice to know we are supporting local school and helping people break out of the poverty cycle
This should be among the list of things to do for anyone coming to Siem Reap. It is a must see. Worth the money paid.
