Highlights
We will drive to Giza Plateau to explore the great pyramids, the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The largest of the three pyramids, which belongs to Khufu, is a marvel of engineering from the 3rd millennium BC, the Old Kingdom period. His son, Khafre's pyramid, on a nearby site, appears taller than his father's, but this is an illusion, because it was built on a higher ground. Khafre's son, Menkaura's pyramid is less than half the height of his grandfather, Khufu's pyramid. Along with his pyramid, Khafre built the Great Sphinx as a part of his complex, that represents Ra-Harakhte, the sun god, as he rises in the east. The face of the Sphinx is a portrait of Khafre. After exploring the three pyramids
a visit to the incredible Egyptian Museum. Our guide will take us through a time tunnel back to the beginnings and development of the ancient Egypt. We will not, of course, leave the museum without seeing the renowned TUTANKHAMUN COLLECTION.
